WILD SOUTH AFRICA: THE BERG & KRUGER
This itinerary is a combination of two of South Africa’s top tourist destinations! The Ukhahlamba Drakensberg and Kruger National Park. The Drakensberg will feature a five day guided hike of the ultra classic Sentinel to Cathedral Peak Traverse. And of course, the Kruger National Park will feature a five day guided safari. Once you are down the mountain after some freshening up you are off to the bush for some time out. Apart from catering in the Drakensberg and lunches in Kruger, everything else is included - accredited guiding, transfers to and from the airport, all transport in between, accommodation and meals. Convenience is what you want, right? This is your one stop shop for some of South Africa’s most well known, remote, beautiful and wild places. We will visit Drakensberg Mountains, KwaZulu-Natal, Uthukela District, Mpumalanga, Panorama Route, Kruger National Park.
Drakensberg Mountains, Sterkfontein Dam, Oliviershoek Pass, Kerkenberg, Kaalvoetvrou Monument, Tugela/Vaal Pump scheme, Witsieshoek Mountain Lodge, Didima Hotel, Cathedral Peak Hotel, Tugela River Lodge, Dullstroom, Panorama Route, Three Rondawels, Blyde River Canyon, Abel Erasmus Pass, Lowveld, Kruger National Park, Letaba Camp and elephant museum and Olifants Camp.
Transfer from OR Tambo International Airport to Witsieshoek Mountain Lodge. Last bit of comfort before the Drakensberg Hike starts. A pre-trip briefing and last packing arrangements will take place here. The mountain lodge is 7km away from the start of the hike.

Day 1 will see you summit the world renowned Amphitheater.
Day 2 we will be stopping by the remote and not so well walked Mnweni. Here are some legendary Drakensberg peaks and caves to visit.
Day 3 is all the way to the Cathedral Range and Twins Cave.
Day 4 is down the escarpment via the Mlambonja Pass. Down, down, and more down.
Day 5 is back to civilization. Food on your own during the trek. Breakfast included on day 2 at the hotel. Dinner included on day 6 at the hotel.
DAY 7 - TRAVEL DAY

DAY 8-11 - KRUGER NATIONAL PARK GUIDED SAFARI
Arrive at Olifants Camp and Letaba Camp in the northern parts of the park. These are your overnight spots. For the duration of your stay you have got the Big 5 game drives (morning, afternoon and night) and field guided walks on demand. And if you don’t want any of that, just put your feet up and relax. The aim is to provide a South African experience of Kruger, not a foreign experience. B, D included for each day.* Lunch on your own inside the park.
DAY 12 - TRAVEL DAY
Transfer from Kruger National Park to OR Tambo International Airport. Breakfast included at the hotel.

NONREFUNDABLE TREK STYLE: The trek of Drakensberg requires that you have recent wilderness backpacking experience. You will need to carry your own backpack with all your gear and food for 5 days. Expect to carry a weight of at least 25 pounds. The elevation gain and loss is moderate and the highest elevation is around 3200 meters.

During the trek, you will need to provide your own gear including tent, sleeping bags, mats, cooking utensils, and food. A gear list will be made available to those who are confirmed for the tour. During the safari, you will be staying in guesthouse/bungalow style huts with single beds (no tents/sleeping gear needed). The rest of the tour you will stay in hotels.
International flights are excluded. Clients must book their own flights and send a copy of their flight itinerary by e-mail to no later than the trip balance due date.
TRAVEL INSURANCE REQUIRED:
After making a deposit, you are required to obtain appropriate travel insurance through Travel Guard or other insurance of your choice that should cover at a minimum 100% of the trip cost (land & air), emergency medical and evacuation for high altitude trekking of up to 4000 meters. Proof of travel insurance must be provided via electronic mail to no later than the trip balance due date. Failure to obtain travel insurance by the trip balance due date will result in cancellation and no refund of your trip deposit and/or applicable cancellation fees as noted in the Terms & Conditions.
Note: If you opt to buy your insurance from a company other than Travel Guard, please ensure that the insurance you purchase covers high altitude trekking as there are only a select number of companies that provide such type of coverage.
Please check ahead of time as to the visa requirements for the country of your choosing. You are responsible for securing your own visa, if required.
